Thomas Ziller Obituary

Age 59 of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday July 17, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born in Kankakee on August 14, 1947, Tom was a son of the late Orville and Irene (Sharper) Ziller. He was a graduate of Wilmington HS (1966) and was former manager of The Launching Pad, where he was employed for over 35 years. Tom was currently employed by Grundy Bank and the Mar Theater. He was an avid fisherman, originating the "Island City Bass Anglers" and he loved gardening and wood working.

Survivors include his wife, Janice (nee Tomsheck); son, Tom (Christy) Ziller of Wilmington; two daughters, Miki (Doug) Wesley of St. Joseph, IL and Joie (Mike Scagnelli) Ziller of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Shelby Ziller, Hannah and Samuel Wesley; two brothers, John Ziller of Bloomington and Henry (Carol) Ziller of CO; two sisters, Alice and Helen Ziller, both of Wilmington; Sisters-in-law, Jeanine Griffith and Linda Tomsheck; and brother-in law, Chuck Bray; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sister-in-law, Joanne Bray; and brother-in-law, Jim Tomsheck.

Tom was an Organ Donor to the Gift of Hope and Cremation Rites have been accorded.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday July 21, 2007 from 2 PM until time of services 4 PM at Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington with Rev. Kevin Dempsay officiating.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Tom's memory to the Wilmington High School Foundation for Excellence.

What a great guy and what a huge loss to anyone with whom he came in contact! I worked with Tom at the Launching Pad back in the 1960's. He was simply one of the nicest guys I've ever met!
Even after I left the Wilmington area, I always tried to stop by the LP to see Tom; I'll always remember that wonderful smile he had!
