Walter Nolan Obituary

Age 66. Passed away peace-fully Monday, March 12, 2007 with his family by his side.

Survived by his loving wife Beverly (Martin) Nolan; children, Michael (Karen) Nolan, Patricia (Steve) Saenz and Sally (Brian) Giegerich; grandchildren Kathleen and Brian Nolan and Drew, Shea and Jack Saenz; sister, Marilyn (Warren) Lonzo; mother-in-law, Mary (Henneberry) Martin. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Walter M. and Helen (Krings) Nolan,

Born in Joliet, a lifelong resident. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School and Northern Illinois University, where he received a degree in accounting. Walt worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Joliet his entire career. At Clifton Gunderson LLP, he was the partner in charge of the Joliet office for 25 years. He served the firm as a Board member for approximately 20 years and was Chairman of the Board for one year. Walt's dedication on behalf of the firm earned him the Partner of the Year Award.

Walt was past President of the Estate Planning Council of Joliet, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He was a Board member of First National Bank of Joliet and the Recipient of the 2002 Illinois CPA Society Public Service Award.

He served as Chairman, Board member, or Treasurer of numerous civic and charitable organizations, including: Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Kiwanis Club of Joliet, Cathedral of St. Raymond, Joliet Catholic High School and Joliet Catholic Academy, Rialto Square Theatre, United Way of Will County, Big Brothers, Knights of Columbus, Joliet Junior College Foundation, Downtown Development Council, Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and St. Joseph's Baseball League.

Walt enjoyed sailing, golf, snow skiing and tennis with his family and friends.

Funeral from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Friday, March 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday 3-7 p.m. Memorials to The Cathedral of St. Raymond or Joliet Catholic Academy would be appreciated.

I feel lucky and am very happy to have spent time with Walt. the time we spent sailing was very enjoyable and he was so humorous!
