William English Obituary

William H. English
William H. "Bill" English, age 88, of Channahon, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 22, 2025, at home, with his loving family by his side.
William was born in Oak Park, IL on April 13, 1937, a son of the late Louise (Peterson) and Howard Edward English.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, serving with the 502nd Infantry, First Airborne Battle Group.
For many years, Bill worked as a lineman for ComEd. During retirement, he worked as a car hiker for D'Arcy Motors for over 20 years.
Bill was an avid fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. If there was a home remodel project to be done, Bill was the first to volunteer. Above everything else, however, he adored his family and cherished time spent with them.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances; his children, Bill (Susan) English, David (Debbie) English, Jim (Colette) Shields, Tom (Sandy) Shields, Karen (Steve) Parker, Kathy (Dan) Beasley, Jean (Dan) Kinsley, Laura Shields, Caroline (Donny) Martin, Frances (Tom) Jasper, Margie Webb, and Mary (Tony) Papandria; 29 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Doug (Jorgie) English; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret "Marge" (Keca) English; a son, Daniel English; and his parents, Howard and Louise.
The family would like to thank his devoted caregiver, Tetyana, for her loving care.
Visitation for William English will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 10:30 a.m., until the time of services at 12:30 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
Memorials in his name to Lightways Hospice (www.lightways.org) would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking back on the years I worked with Bill, the memories are ones of happiness. He took the time to teach me that working hard could be fun ,as well as rewarding. He was respected by all. I feel I am a better person having spent time with him. He will always be remembered as my favorite crew leader to work with. I´m sure he is going to be missed by all. My condolences to his loving family and friends.
