William Meader Obituary
Survived by his wife of 60 loving years, Audrey (nee Carpenter) of Prescott, AZ; his daughters, Diane Meader Schenk (Richard) of Lockport, IL, and Carol Meader of Shorewood, IL; and his sister, Janet Nitke of Browns Valley, MN.
Known as a family man; wise, wonderful and with a great sense of humor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Meader and Elizabeth (nee) Horwath.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy as Pharmacist Mate Second Class aboard the DD595 USS Metcalf until the end of WWII He was discharged in March of 1946. He attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign with a Masters of Science degree in Education in1951. He was employed in several capacities with Olin Chemical Company in Joliet where he retired in 1987, then moved with his wife Audrey to Durango, CO. They later relocated to Prescott AZ.
There will be a private memorial service for Bill at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery located in Elwood, IL at a later date.
Memorials to Granite Mountain Home Care and Hospice of Prescott, AZ would be appreciated.

My Father-in-Law. As I stood with him as he passed, I watched a real hero reach out to his loving wife and God. God won, but so did we. He was certainly one of a kind. I actually met Bill before Diane met me. Even then he offered to help me work on my car while he and Audrey were in Decatur, IL visiting Diane in the apartment complex where she and I each had separate apartments and did not know each other, yet anyway. I guess he knew that Diane and I would eventually meet so he decided to offer to help me. Or maybe that's just the way he was. Kind.
