David Boehlke Obituary

David Lee "Dave" Boehlke, 77, Monticello, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at the Franciscan Health, St. Elizabeth East Hospital of Lafayette, with his family at his side.
He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Wanatah, to the late Cornelius and Virginia (Tesmer) Boehlke. He married Bobbie on Aug. 8, 2001, in the Smokey Mountains; she survives.
Dave had lived in the Monticello area since 1978, coming from Valparaiso.
He had worked for the former McGill/Emerson Manufacturing of Monticello as a bearing supervisor from May of 1963 to July of 2001, having worked for over 35 years and was a member of the Thirty-Year Club.
David was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on an icebreaker in the North Pole. His ship was being called to form the blockade for the Cuban Missile Crisis but was eventually not needed.
He loved his family more than anything.
Dave enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, playing with his grandchildren and enjoying his friends in Florida.
Surviving are wife Bobbie Boehlke, Monticello; children Michael D. Boehlke and Michelle (Matt) Gritten, both of Monticello; step-children Michelle (Mark) Pittman, Granger, and Rob (Lindsey) Culross, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Cody (Chelsea) Mattos, Indianapolis, Maxwell Gritten, Monticello, Branden, Karsten and Kailey Pittman, all of Granger, Sydney, Natalie and Tucker Culross, all of Wesley Chapel; great-granddaughter– to–be Baby Mattos; brothers and sisters Charles (Linda) Boehlke, Indianapolis, Jim (Amy) Boehlke, Kouts, Rose Mary (Frank) Wheeler, Wanatah, and Angela (Lee) Cox, Branson, Mo.; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nephews and cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Virginia (Tesmer) Boehlke; and niece Mindy Boehlke.
A flag presentation by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard, followed by a Celebration of Life, will be 2:30-6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Altherr Nature Park of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Bobbie, Bob and I are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We will always remember our game night at your place in IBE last year. It was a real hoot. Can't remember laughing so hard.
