Edith Dexter Obituary
She was born on Aug. 16, 1926, in Gary to the late Charles H. and Jessie (Kirk) Green. In 1947, in Oshkosh, Wis., she married Robert R. "Bob" Dexter; he survives.
Edith graduated in 1947 from Madison General Hospital School of Nursing.
Edith and her great friend, Connie Brouillette, co-founded and built Green–Hill Manor Nursing Home of Fowler in 1971 and she retired as the director of nursing from there.
Surviving are husband, Robert G. "Bob" Dexter, Monticello; children, Robert G. (Alyce) Dexter II, Noblesville, Kim A. (Jerry) Bowley, Remington, Scott J. Dexter, LaPorte, and Douglas A. (Debra) Dexter, Covington; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Beverly Green, Oshkosh, Wis.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Jessie (Kirk) Green; and brother, Charles H. Green II.
Visitation will be from noon - 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Rosary Service followed by Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home starting at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Father David L. Rasner of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church of Monticello officiating.
Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in rural Monticello.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
