Alan Rich Obituary
March 30, 1937 - October 28, 2025
Alan Rich, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed peacefully at home in Rockville, MD at the age of 88. Born March 30, 1937, in New York City to Edith and Maurice Rich, Alan was raised in Pelham Parkway, Bronx, NY, and moved his family from Queens, NY to Norwalk, CT where they lived from 1971 to 2020. Alan lived a long and vibrant life, sharing his warmth, humor, and kindness to everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sonya "Sunny" (Shadlen) Rich. He was a loving father to his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Rich) Moskowitz and Alan Moskowitz of Stamford, CT, and his son and daughter-in-law, Norm Rich and Sara Cohen of Washington, DC. Alan's legacy continues through his five grandchildren-Ethan Moskowitz, and Amelia, Sean, Julia, and Lauren Rich. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Alan was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Rich.
Alan's passion for all things mechanical was matched only by his commitment to his family. He held fast to a mindset of fostering relationships and building community, both professionally as a business owner and personally by volunteering for Congregation Beth El and Schoke Jewish Family Service.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Rd., Stamford, CT
Alan will be dearly missed, but remembered with love, gratitude, and a warm hug. May his memory be a blessing for all who knew him.

Very saddened to learn of Mr. Rich's passing.
My family lived across the street from the Rich family and I considered Mr. Rich a great neighbor and friend, and know that my late father, Victor, counted Alan as his closest Norwalk friend and trusted confidant.
My condolences to Mrs. Rich, Michelle, Norm, and the extended Rich family.
