Arthur Milton Obituary

Arthur J. Milton, Jr.
Arthur Joseph Milton, Jr. 85, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2022. He was the devoted husband of 54 years to the late Edith (Heiskell) Milton and will be remembered for his devotion to his family as well as his enjoyment of golf, fishing, gathering with friends, and the New York Yankees.
Born in Mount Vernon, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Frances (O'Brien) Milton, he was grateful to come from a family that instilled the values of hard work, ethical conduct, and education. He had a lively childhood, growing up literally on the golf course at Wykagyl Country Club where his father was the golf pro. Athletic and well-liked, Arthur played varsity baseball, swimming, and golf at Iona Prep, and was the captain when he graduated in 1955. Arthur went on to earn his bachelor's in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Detroit in 1960. He earned a Masters in Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, and an Masters in Business Administration from New York University.
Throughout his 35-year career at Sikorsky Aircraft, Arthur contributed to the design of many aircraft overseeing structural integrity, and more than a few league golf championships. He also found time to teach at engineering courses at University of Bridgeport. In his career as an aeronautical engineer and a one-time scratch golfer, he will be remembered for his insistence on following the rules (no mulligans for him!), and doing things right, no matter how difficult or inconvenient that might be.
Arthur was predeceased by his wife Edith, his mother, and his father. He is survived by his devoted daughter Catherine Milton Patton and son-in-law Robert J. Patton, his loving sisters Maureen (Tom Kennedy) and Elaine (James Romer, dec.), as well as many nieces and nephews. He especially loved cookouts and lobster bakes with family and friends, Christmas, and his many pet dogs and cats through the years.
Arthur was a member of the St. Jerome's community for over 50 years. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk, followed by a brief burial ceremony at St. John's cemetery in Norwalk. Donations in Arthur's name may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
