Brian McGuinness Obituary

Brian J. McGuinness
Brian J. McGuinness, 61 years old of Winsted, CT, died peacefully in the arms of his longtime partner Iren "Raney" Feher on June 27, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut.
Brian was born on August 26, 1955 in Norwalk, CT. He was the son of the late James N. McGuinness. Brian was raised in Norwalk, CT. He graduated with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Northwestern Connecticut Community College and a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Criminal Justice from Charter Oak State College. He was a land surveyor for many years. Brian was a very talented musician. Wherever he was, there was a guitar. He loved an audience and was great at getting the crowd going, whether at a venue or just with his family and friends. Music was his life. He also loved animals; especially his cat "Red" and was an avid enthusiast of nature, the solar system and the outdoors, especially fishing. In his final days, his solace was to sit near a lake and fish.
He is survived by his mother Merlin E. McGuinness of Cheshire; his siblings: James P. McGuinness and his wife Laura of Norwalk; Matthew J. McGuinness and his partner Carol of Westport; Sheila M. Sweet and her husband Todd of Cheshire and Laura Corbo of Hackettstown, NJ. He was also survived by his nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Hamden, CT on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Little Guild of St. Francis, 285 Sharon-Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796. Raney and family would like to thank all of the staff on the oncology floor at St. Francis Hospital for its love and dedication in Brian's final days. Kenny Funeral Home, 41 Main St., Sharon, has care of arrangements.
