Carlos was a wonderful, kind person. He will be greatly missed. My family was blessed to know him through our time at BMS. Both of my kids shared fun stories of how he'd "pump up" his arm muscles by blowing into his thumb like a balloon and make them laugh. I have witnessed his kindness and humor firsthand with all of the kids while volunteering at school. We crossed paths many times for social events, sports and activities, and also the times an item was left behind in a locker that we just "had to have" even though school was closed and the area was locked up to get to it. He was the kindest person, always willing to help, always smiling, and we just wanted to share with his family how important he was in our lives and let you know we are praying for you.

"Man, I got holes in my socks that are older than you!" One of Carlos's many jokes I came to love. He had this endearing wit that made you smile as you laughed at your own expense. My man had a sweet jump shot. And as he walked away nursing his shoulder, he would say "Next time I won't take it easy on you." His contributions and dedication to his colleagues, students, friends, and school is one of the kind. Every school that has a Carlos in it has been blessed with a positive attitude that echoes through the building. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. We will miss him greatly, but will never be forgotten as we all try to be more like him.

My deepest condolences to the Rivera family. Carlos was one of the most loving and funniest people I know. He always lit up a room wherever he went. I have some wonderful memories of Carlos. Ben Franklin Basketball and Baseball. And most of all. The WV crew , 4 time Champions in a row. San Lorenzo " Los Samaritanos" . Special memories and a special friend. RIP my Brother!!

My heart aches over the loss of not only my boss, but of my friend. The last thing he said to me when I saw him a month or so ago was "what the (bleep) you don´t (bleeping) call me anymore?". He was a great boss, a great mentor, and always was filled with so much joy, humor and compassion, and always went out of his way to be polite and caring to every staff member and student. I´ve been looking across the parking lot from Rockwell to BMS wistfully looking for his white truck that I would ride around in between BMS and Johnson and Rockwell when we were working and moving furniture, and he would playfully speed around the parking lot while I´m hanging on for dear life in the back - all the while he´d be laughing out loud and saying through the window "you ok?". He always showed so much gratitude to us, thanking us and buying breakfast sandwiches, when all we were doing was our job, and following his example. He was a wonderful leader and someone I often went to as a friend when something was bothering me or a needed advice. My heart has a huge hole in it for the last week. But I will always smile and laugh at the fun times we had while at work and will continue to pray for his families´ and friends´ peace to be in their hearts. Miss you dearly, Carlito.....

We both had an opportunity to work with Carlos. He spread joy wherever he went - especially with all of the kids he encountered on a daily basis. He will be missed by so many... Rest in Peace...

The hallways at BMS are not the same without Carlos. He was the most authentic human being I have ever met. He had a superpower. His superpower was making EVERY single person around him feel special and loved. Our students looked up to him and respected him and the teachers knew him as a true friend. We were so blessed for having had him in our lives.

RIP-We did not know Carlos personally although it felt like we did through my brother Billy Mills always referring to Carlos was like a brother to him. I also felt like I knew him through my grandaughter Willow Marsh always coming home saying how she would talk with Carlos in the halls of BMS as he would tell all the kids to tie there shoes before they would trip on the laces. Carlos sounded like a very kind warm person and now he in not in anymore pain and resting with the angels.
