Catherine Verda Obituary

Catherine Festa Verda
Eternal rest was granted to Catherine Festa Verda on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital. In the words of Mark 10:9, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." Catherine is once again reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, James William Verda.
Catherine is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Francesca Sciarrillo and her husband Gary of Fairfield, Lori Godin and her husband David of Wilton, Grandson Marc Godin and his wife Erin of Fairfield. Granddaughter Kristen Godin of Norwalk, and great-granddaughter Ella Catherine Godin (along with her little brother who is on the way) of Fairfield. She is also survived by her beloved sister-cousin, Anna Richter.
Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jennie Festa, sisters, Rose Festa Izzo and Annette Festa.
Catherine was born on June 21st and had been a manager at the Former Corday Manufacturing Inc. for close to 50 years. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish: volunteered for altar maintenance and was an active participant of the Rosary Prayer Group which gathered at 6:00 a.m. weekdays, followed by mass and breakfast with "the girls" at Penny's Diner. She was a life time member of Saint Ann's Club and also was a Columbiette. She had a passion for shopping, cooking and family gatherings. She was most famous for her Christmas Eve calamari dinner which hosted thirty plus family and friends annually for over fifty years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31st, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church.
The family would like to thank our cousin, Kathie Richter, Premier Care LLC and The VNA of Fairfield County for their compassionate care over the years. In addition, we would like to thank her wonderful neighbors: Creton and Teri Hines, Judy Barker, and Gert and Pat Caporrino for their kindness and support to all "The Verdas" over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06855. For condolences, visit www.collinsfh.com.

Fran, Lori, & Family,
Fran, I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Though I didn't know her well, my late mother, Shirley, did, as she was also a Columbiette. My Family and I send our deepest condolences at this time of sorrow. I'm only sorry I that I found out after the fact. May God Bless you and your family.

Fran, Lori and family, we are so sorry to hear of Aunt Kay's passing. I remember her visiting my parents often back in the day. Actually, she introduced my mother to my dad. God bless you Aunt Kay!
