Ronald L. Verda
Born: April 14, 1937 in Mark, IL
Died: August 20, 2025 in Peru, IL
Ronald Lester Verda, 88, of Granville, Il passed away in the early morning hours of August 20, 2025.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Saturday August 23, 2025, in the Sacred Heart Church in Granville Father Gregory Jarzombek will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be held Friday August 22 from 5-7pm and Saturday from 9-10am in the Helmer Shields Funeral Home in Granville.
Ron was born April 14, 1937, in Mark, Il to Nicola and Rose Ann (Carani) Verda. He married Christine Ringeisen on May 16, 1978, in the Hennepin Courthouse.
Ron was a jack-of-all-trades and small business owner. He ran Verda Auto Repair in Granville for many years. His love of cars was not just a career but extended to an avid antique car collector. He and his wife Chris (nee Ringeisen) enjoyed many adventures as part of the Gas and Brass Antique Car Club, where they enjoyed traversing all kind of terrains through wind, rain, snow, or blazing temperatures in one of their pre-1915 cars. They made many friends along the way.
But what Ron will best be remembered for is his being a loving husband to Chris, father to Michele, grandfather to Nicholas and Isabel, and a really good friend.
Ron is survived by his wife Christine, Daughter Michele (Antony) Homfray of St. Louis, two brothers Raymond (Linda) Verda of Granville, Lucian Verda of Granville, four sisters Marilyn Verda of Henry, Shirley McAnn of California, Beverly Biagini of Granville, Elaine (Doug) Ossola of Granville, sister-in-law Karen Verda of Granville and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Adeline Moriarty, four brothers Domnick Verda, James Verda, Richard Verda, LeRoy Verda, two sisters in laws Paulette Verda, Patricia Verda, two brother in laws James Moriarty, Jack Biagini and one nephew Chad Gregory Nunley.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Verda, Lucian Verda, Steve Verda, Nicholas Homfray, Ryan Ossola and Bobby Parker.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Oh, Chris, I´m so sorry to hear of Ron´s passing! If I would have known I would have come to the services! He was the sweetest man! He would come into Hot Dogs for lunch or breakfast, a lot! John and I both always enjoyed his company!
