Don and I had many interesting talks about airplanes at the Air and Space Centers. He was most interesting to talk with on many subjects and a wonderful Docent we all enjoyed.
May he have a good tail wind on his last flight. God Bless

Dear family of Don, I am so sorry to know of your Dad's passing. What a special person he was. I enjoyed knowing them when they moved to our little cul-de-sac at 215 Shifting Log Dr. in Hampton. During the 5 years they were here, so many things happened. A hurricane & the lights being out for 4-5 days. Enjoying a cup of coffee or a frozen bottle of water from our son's in Carrollton. Don & Duncan were sitting in the dark when the lights came on & we could hear the roar of people shouting for joy in the neighborhood. I saw no lights come on at Don & Julia's. I went over & yelled in the window that the electricity was on. They laughed, as they turned on lights & said they wondered what the shouting was about. We had a terrible snowstorm after Julia came home from the hospital. She had a second mastectomy Jan. 3d, I believe. So many things happened in the 5 years your parents lived here. But I enjoyed knowing them and taking them goodies to eat. Julia was a pleasure to visit & told me stories of England & her family there. She told me of coming to America and her life here and meeting Don and having 5 children. Living in Leesburg seemed to be such a treat to her, where the horses & fox hunters ran across their fields. She missed her dog so much after he died. I loved Julia and enjoyed being her friend.
I felt I knew Duncan and Catherine better than the other children, even though I met the others at different times during visits.
May God bless all of you with good lives, and health and happy memories of your parents. Love, Mary Copeland. 216 Shifting Log Dr., Hampton, VA 23669
My husband, Ben, passed away 1 Jan. 2012 & I had double knee replacement 5 Sept. 2012. Am doing fine & stay busy with church activities and Bird Club activities. I remember Don came to one of our Bird Club meetings, just to see what it was all about. He loved the water and all things to do with planes, space and our surrounding area. Of course, that was his reason for wanting to live here. My son & daughter take great care of me and constantly call, check-in & visit. Keep in touch. Love to all, Mary
