Frances DiTomaso Obituary

Frances Andrea DiTomaso
Frances Andrea DiTomaso (81), Andrea to all that knew her, entered into eternal rest on October 29th, 2021. Andrea was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 29th, 1940. She was the only child of the late Ettore and Margaret Ferfoglia. Andrea was educated in the Brooklyn Catholic Schools and went on to attend Fordham University where she received a B.A. degree in Education. It was at Fordham that she met the love of her life Gino DiTomaso. Upon graduation, it was in 1962 that they were married and remained so for fifty-nine wonderful years. Beginning their life together, Andrea and Gino settled in Connecticut, first in Ridgefield and then Stamford. Although you could take the girl out of Brooklyn, you could never take Brooklyn out of the girl, and Andrea was always proud of her Brooklyn roots.
It was in Stamford that Andrea and her beloved Gino built their first home, raised their family, and made many friends. Andrea was an educator in the Stamford public school system, having earned her M.A. and sixth year certificate in education, she taught kindergarten for many years at a number of Stamford schools. She was proud to have been named teacher of the year by her peers. Always the fashionista, Andrea had a style that spoke volumes. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, loved to garden and knit (always a blanket for a newborn of friends and family), and had a knack for Scrabble. Andrea enjoyed many summers at her home in Wrinkle Point on Cape Cod and winters at her home in Naples, FL. Along with her husband, she was a long-time member of Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, where she served on numerous committees and was a regular golfer with the nine holers ladies group.
Andrea was so very proud of her son and daughter, but her biggest pride and joy was being "Mammie" to her two granddaughters and the recent addition to the family of her first great-grandchild.
In addition to her loving husband Gino, Andrea is survived by her son Peter DiTomaso (daughter-in-law Jayne) of Stamford, CT, daughter Crista LaBrie (son-in-law Michael) of Stamford, CT, granddaughters Emily Calderone (Michael) and Olivia DiTomaso and great-grandson Thomas Calderone.
Calling hours will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT on Thursday November 4th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Cecilia-St. Gabriel, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday November 5th at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow immediately after at St. John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT.

My deepest condolences to Gino, Peter & Crista.
I was the Secretary at Hart School. Andrea was my favorite substitute teacher. She would always come in for us, last minute or a long-term assignment.
She always beamed talking about her husband and very young children. And..I have to say, she was a fabulous dresser. Impeccable!!!

I am very sorry and sad to learn of my friend´s passing away.
