James Decato Obituary

James V. Decato
James V. "Jimmy" Decato, age 65, of Naugatuck entered into rest on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at VITAS at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on September 14, 1958 in Norwalk, son of the late Doron and Gloria (DeRosa) Decato and has been a Naugatuck Citizen for over 30 years.
Jim was a mechanic for The Norwalk Company in Stratford for over 44 years until his retirement two years ago, and enjoyed seeing the world, travelling with work throughout the years. Jimmy found pleasure hiking the trails of Sleeping Giant State Park and swimming at Hop Brook. Whether puzzles or woodworking, Jim kept himself constantly occupied and had a work ethic second to none. He was a gentle soul with a calming character, and spent many memorable vacations with his close friends, the Chieffalo family.
Jimmy is the loving brother of Alan Decato of Naugatuck; and is also survived by his extended family, Patty "Bones" and Sal Chieffalo of Stratford; his Godchildren, Nick Chieffalo of Monroe and Ashley Chieffalo of Stratford; and many cousins and friends.
Friends may greet Jimmy's family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. His funeral service will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
