Dear Pagni Family,
Words can't express how sad I am to hear of your loss. Jason changed my life in countless ways, like he did for so many others, and I will always look at meeting him as a turning point in my life. I was about 14 or 15 years old (1996), a brash hockey player from Long Island, and somehow our paths crossed. He put together a team called the "Connecticut Blackhawks" and I was lucky enough to land on it. I actually found a roster a few weeks ago and I think every person on that team played college hockey and at least 5 played in the NHL. I still can't get over that he was in his mid 20's when he coached that team! He knew so many people and got us into the best tournaments. With his help, our team was able to play in front of about 8 Prep School coaches at their rinks so they didn't have to travel to see us play. We played at Choate, Avon, Taft, Gunnery, Kent, etc. It was an amazing experience. Because of that exposure, I was able to attend the Taft School and my life was never the same. When I think of New England hockey, I think of Jay and what he meant to my family and I. My prayers are with you all and he will never be forgotten.

To Jason Wife and Kids, my deepest condolences on your loss. I know it hits deep and hard, but know you are in many peoples hearts and prayers today and beyond. To Susan and Shane, thank you for giving me the time to share with him as a child growing up in Wallingford.

Jason and I grew up together, played together with neighborhood friends for many years. We played hard with and against each other in hockey and baseball, among others, but had fun doing it. I remember many days growing up just playing in street corners, backyards, driveways until our parents yelled at us to get inside for dinner and bed. Sadly he and I did not connect much after he went to Avon, and I moved to Boston. From the sounds of many of what I have read over the past few days since his passing, he turned out to be a very good man and friend to many, a mentor, and of course a great father to his daughters and husband to his wife.

Upon reflecting upon Jay's passing, I can only try to smile and reflect on the days and years we spent together, and I wish that all that knew him can do the same. While it very difficult to move on, mostly with those closest to him, hopefully the joy that he brought to your lives in the time spent will help with the sad times.

You will be missed buddy.

February 7, 2014

It is so quiet without you my friend. You were my older brother that always looked out for me. You were always there when I needed you and you always showed up for the biggest moments. I still can't figure out how you knew my son was born in the middle of the night, when no one knew Amy went into labor. Not to mention how you managed to sneak on to the maternity ward without any detection. Only you. Words can't describe what you meant to me and how you impacted my life. As difficult as it may be, I will make our Annual pilgrimage to Quebec this year without you in body, but truly in spirit. I promise you that I will carry your torch to the north country and forever thru my life. You have my word that I will watch over Katie and the girls and Suzie and Shane. I love you and miss you so much Jay.
your brother,

Jason Pagni
Pags was truly one of a kind. When I heard the news, I was sick. How could a guy so full of life be taken away so soon. He made people laugh, was NEVER to busy to stop to say hello, and helped out as many kids as you could ever imagine. There was nobody I ever saw that was liked by every different type of class of person like Pags. You just wanted him around. I missed not getting my annual Super Bowl weekend phone call. He was an unconditional friend. He liked hockey, golf, Avon and friends, but nothing did he love more than his 3 girls. Today we lay to rest one of the all time greats. Katy, Maddie and Gabby, I am so sorry for our loss. Pags KEEP PUSHIN

My deepest condolences to the Pagni family. There are just no words. I had the pleasure of working with Jason over the past 10 months. He was a caring, kind, and generous person who will be missed by myself and so many. Each day was filled with fun and laughter, and no matter how busy, he always took the time to ask how myself and my family were doing. We lost a bright light. May he shine upon the family and watch over them. We will "keep pushing."

I had the pleasure of knowing "Pags"! I played in a few golf tournaments with him and if you knew him, lets just say, we won all of them. I had dinner with him that Wednesday prior to his passing and we had a lot of fun, me being the brunt of his ball breaking,we laughed! He bought us dinner that night. Had I known that that would have been the last time I would see him I would've fought him over who was going to pay. A great guy and I will have a lasting memory of that night especially when he showed us the video of him teaching his daughter how to drive a golf cart. You could see that he loved his daughters by the look in his eyes! Going to be missed by all!
