Jean Lynn Thomas Bell, beloved matriarch, left this world June 19, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Norwalk, Connecticut and raised in Astoria, New York, and Norwalk by her loving mother and father, Cecelia and John Dwyer. She spent her life dedicated to the betterment of others. Jean was a graduate of Norwalk High School and Bucknell University. She left a lasting impression in her career as a teacher in Norwalk, ranging from kindergarten to math and social studies, retiring from West Rocks Middle School in 2002.
She married her sweetheart and life partner, Lester Bell, December 29, 1962, and spent 62 ½ years of wedded bliss building a life and legacy together. Jean wore many hats of service, from teacher to foster parent and dedicated mother to Tracie Nixon (Thomas) of Clinton, Connecticut, Lauren Bell of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Douglas Bell, of Sebastian, Florida, and Michael Bell, who predeceased her in 2006.
After retirement, Jean and Les moved from Norwalk to Sebastian, Florida, finding their small slice of paradise in Park Place, where they made many wonderful friends and enjoyed a life full of social events. They traveled to the corners of the world, cruising together, living life to the fullest.
Jean went by many names. Whether you knew her by Jean, daughter, sister, Mrs. Bell, "Aunt," Lovely Bride, Mom, or Grammie, it is guaranteed to be a treasured name dear to your heart. Jean and Les built a beautiful legacy consisting of 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many cherished friends who became family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her by any of her beloved names.
A memorial Service was held on June 28, 2025, at Friendship Christian Community Church, followed by a reception at the Park Place Clubhouse in Sebastian Florida. Interment was private.
