Jean McLaughlin Obituary
Jean Marie McLaughlin, 58, a New Canaan resident for over 27 years died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a relentless battle with cancer. Survived by her devoted husband of over 32 years, Dr. Kevin McLaughlin, and daughters Lauryn and Maggie, sisters Tricia (Garcia) and Marita (Van Vliet), preceded in death by parents Eugene and Rita. Jean Marie lived her life focused on her family, friendships and faith. After 17 years of committed service as a speech pathologist, she rediscovered her passion and calling as a designer, building a successful business, JMac Designs, in New Canaan. Always one to celebrate even the simplest moments in life, Jean Marie was a staple presence at all of her community's events, especially those at St. Aloysius Parish and Shorehaven Golf Club. She was an eternal optimist, fierce fighter, constant and loyal companion and the life of every party. Her spirit and awe-inspiring energy will be missed by all. A wake will be held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, CT 06840. A funeral mass will begin at 4pm on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry St., New Canaan, CT 06840.

Dear Kevin, Lauryn, and Maggie: I just heard the sad news of Jean Marie's passing.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I met JM through Katie K. whom I used to live across the street from for over a decade. I have never met anyone who could come up with the most hilarious and witty one-liners as JM. Granted Kate was right there with her!
JM's life was one of giving. Lauryn, Maggie and you were always on her mind either with a funny story or all of your accomplishments, shared with humility. The world has lost a wonderful woman, but heaven has gained this wonderful woman named Jean Marie. Kindly, Leila
