Kevin Conway Obituary

Kevin Thomas Conway
11/17/2024
Kevin Thomas Conway. Our "little" brother passed away on November 17th. He lost his best friend, our father John Conway, in 2022. Three months later he ended up in emergency open heart surgery. He recovered miraculously from that. It has been a long, hard road for Kev. He was fun loving, funny, he was caring, an animal lover, and a loyal friend. He loved getting together with the family on Torsey Pond every year for some kayaking, good old-fashioned game playing and fire pit chats.
Kevin was there for our dad in every way. He was there for doctor and hospital visits as well as sharing their love of cooking and visiting Civil War sites. They were our personal docents, complete with props! Kevin and dad had so many stories about the Civil War, they could really bring it to life when they brought us on tours. They went to music and comedy in Nashville as well!
He is gone too soon. He was 53 years old. But the squirrels that he rescued growing up (Cheech and Chong) and the snakes, the lizards, the fish, the box turtle, the dogs and cats that he owned or cared for will all be there. Not to mention the myriad animals that he helped rescue at the Nature Center in Westport as a child. I'm sure that Richie, Mom, Dad, Rich, Anna and Michael will find him and embrace him. They are all at peace, we are left to process the profound losses. Rest in peace little brother where the love and joy abound. He knew that he was loved. We wish it was enough to keep him here. He is survived by his brother John Conway Jr. and his wife Cheryl, sister Kerry Conway, niece Katie Conway and his dog Charlie.

My sincere condolences. I am heartbroken to learn of Kevin´s passing. I will always cherish memories of playing guitars at the park, Dead shows, and all the good times in which we were usually up to no good. He was a great friend.

Kevin and I worked at an auction together several years ago and I was amazed at the variety of jobs that he mastered there. I would see him working at the check in building one day. At the front office working at a computer on some complicated (as far as I was concerned) task. I would go through the sales area and he was busy at a carpentry job that saved the company time and money. I finally asked him if there was something he couldn´t do and he just chuckled. He did all this with no fanfare or thanks that I could see. I came to realize what a talented man Kevin was. Wish I had known him better.

So beautifully written.

I am not sure I have set eyes on Kevin since Cheech and Chong screeched in your living room, but I know from your stories how great a loss this has been.

I wish you peace.

Kerry
Sending you love and prayers. I only met Kevin a few times but I know he was from a very special family.
