Nancy Stephanak Obituary

Nancy O'Connor Stephanak
Nancy O'Connor Stephanak, 92, passed away peacefully in Vero Beach, Florida on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Nancy is the daughter of John and Lillian Leonard, born in Norwalk Hospital in 1932. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, Nancy attended St. Mary's School and Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, later graduating from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia in 1953, where she made friendships that lasted her lifetime. In 1980, Nancy received her masters degree at Fairfield University. Nancy taught sixth through eighth grade at St. Josephs School in South Norwalk and later joined William Pitt Real Estate in Norwalk where she worked as a realtor for 23 years. Nancy always gave back to her community. She volunteered at the Treasure House; was a member of the Women's Board at Norwalk Hospital; and served on the boards of the East Norwalk Library and All Saints School.
Nancy was an avid baker and enjoyed playing bridge and tennis with friends. Yet, above all, her greatest priority and joy in life came from time spent with her family. Nancy is predeceased by her first husband, Jerry O'Connor, with whom she enjoyed over 50 years of marriage; her sisters Roberta Jones and Joan Stephanak; and her great granddaughter, Emma Campbell. She is survived by her second husband, William Stephanak, formerly of Norwalk, CT; her three sons and their wives; Jerry and Katherine of Piedmont, CA, John and Beth of Fairfield, CT, and Matt and Anne of Vero Beach, FL; 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Thomas the Apostle Church on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Heart Association.

My condolences to the family. We knew the O´connor family as neighbors on Merrill Road when we were growing up. My sister and I babysat for the boys. She was always a great person who loved her family. May happy memories comfort you all in the days ahead.
