Nicholas Doria Obituary

Nicholas A. Doria
Nicholas A. Doria, 75, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Calatafimi, Sicily, Italy, son of Baldassare and Brigita (Vona) Doria, he was the beloved husband of Gina (Gurnari) Doria for 47 years. A 1971 graduate of Fairfield University with B.A. in History, he retired from Xerox Corp. as a credit and collections manager.
A resident of Norwalk for over 50 years, Nicholas was dedicated to the area's sports and baseball community. He served as Little League coach for 27 years; Board Member of West Norwalk Bambino Baseball (ages 8-12) 1989-96; Babe Ruth coach 1993-96; and Norwalk Athletic Association board member and Baseball Commissioner. Quoted in the CT Post, "I truly enjoy the game and teaching the kids, giving them whatever knowledge I can. If we win, so much the better."
In addition to his volunteer services, Nicholas also served as a substitute teacher in the Norwalk and surrounding area school districts. He enjoyed electronics, cars, and listening to Elvis Presley. He believed his greatest accomplishment of all, however, was watching his children grow and become successful.
In addition to his loving wife Gina, he is survived by their children, son Nicholas Doria and wife Jennifer of Norwalk, CT and daughter Danielle Conn and husband Travis of East Fishkill, NY, and grandchildren Isabella, Peyton, Brooke, Riley, and Ryan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Monday, March 25 from 4-8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Today after calling Nick's cell phone to check on his well being, I received a call back from Gina telling me of his passing. Nick was a member of what we called ourselves, "the senior beach boys" meeting 1P.M-3P.M. most week days at Calf Pasture Beach. There were many conversations talking with Nick, along with Tony, Pete,Mickey, Mort, Cosmo, Tom, Dan and myself. We will all miss you, Nick.
