Patricia Genuario Obituary
Patricia "Patty" D. Genuario passed away at home on Sunday, June 26, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born in Flushing, NY to Howard and Rhona (née MacKenzie) Poertner on July 21, 1947 and was a lifelong resident of the Harbor View community in Norwalk, CT. She was extremely active in the Norwalk community, volunteering with the Oyster Festival, at the Appleby Health Center, many boards and committees within Harbor View as well as a Commissioner of the Fair Rent Commission since 1989, with her most recent role as Chair. She is survived by her brother, Howard L. Poertner, Jr, her children, Elisabeth (Detwiler) Giles, and Lindsay Detwiler; Cynthia (Detwiler) Benetti, Tracey (Detwiler) Costikyan, Nancy (Detwiler) Kenney and Billy Genuario (Michelle). She is survived by 9 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, as well as numerous family members, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be deeply missed by all. Calling hours are Sunday 7/03/22 from 2-6 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life will be 7/23/22 from 2-5 at the Harbor View ClubHouse. We just found out. I guess the word is stunned. I first met her during my HV I days in the early 80's.
She was always great to be around and wherever she was that part of the world was brighter and happier. We wish you a great reward for a lifwe well lived.

Patty was such a joy to have as a friend and to have her work for us. We came to rely on her, she not only was great with numbers, she was such a wonderful person, so full of joy. She will be missed. Our deepest sympathies to the family.

It was an honor and a pleasure working with Patty as Chair of the Fair Rent Commission. She made my work staffing that commission a joy. Altough it is an unpaid committment, she always made time for commission business because she believed in the mission. She made sure that all the tenants, landlords and commissioners were heard and had a fair hearing. She kept politics out of the process and always did what she felt was right. The commissioners re-elected her chair year after year regardless of party affiliation and with unanimous votes.
My memories of her will always be a blessing to me as I hope they are to you as well.
