Bob Basché, 80, sports executive and former resident of West Norwalk, died on August 5, 2024 in West Haven. Married to Susan Reed Basché for 37 years, Bob also leaves his son Alex, grandchildren Steven and Natalie Williams, brother Tony, nieces Andrea (Luke) and Danielle (Joe), nephew John (Lynne) and their children.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Basché was an officer in the US Navy serving in Vietnam, followed by a long and successful career, most notably at NBC Sports where he won three Emmy Awards for Wimbledon. He co-founded Millsport, a sports marketing agency, and after retiring had a second career selling boats, volunteering at the West Haven, VA and enjoying time on the water. He will be remembered for his magnetic personality, positive attitude and enthusiasm for life.
Visitation will take place at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green on Thursday September 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place in the fall with a celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Volunteer Services c/o West Haven VA 950 Campbell Ave. West Haven, CT. 06516.
