Ronald Bealer Obituary

Ronald Wilson Bealer
Stamford Resident
Ronald Wilson Bealer, 66, of Stamford, CT, passed away on February 13, 2014. Ron was born in Clearfield, PA on October 30, 1947. After moving to Connecticut in 1949, he grew up in Riverside and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1965. He then went to Penn State University and was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity.
Upon graduating, he attended and received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School in 1972. Ron began his professional career in finance with the Putnam Trust Company. He subsequently worked for 15 years with Bankers Trust Company in international banking and credit policy, leaving Bankers Trust as Group Vice President. He then worked with Chrysler Capital as National Marketing Manager for Corporate Finance.
Ron was strongly devoted to education and decided to leave the corporate world and become a professor of Finance at Norwalk Community College in 1994, where he continued to teach for 20 years. He was the past Chair of the NCC Business Department, Dean of Administration, and Director and Finance Committee Member, but his true calling remained teaching, and his students were always one of his top priorities. One student commented, “He could fix the economy if someone asked him to”… and another was quoted saying, “He is the zen master of finance.”
Outside of teaching, Ron loved Penn State football and was a fervent fan. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Beyond his work and his hobbies, Ron loved his family and loved spending time with them. He is survived by his three children; his daughter Roni Widmer and her husband Mike, of Fairfield, his son Jason Bealer of Stamford, and his daughter Meagan Bealer of Old Greenwich, as well as two grandchildren, Blake and Devenny Widmer, of Fairfield. He is also survived by his loving mother, Jean Zaccardo, of St. Petersburg, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norwalk Community College Foundation, 188 Richards Avenue, Room E311, Norwalk, CT 06854-1655. Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 20 from 6-8pm at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in the Fairfield Center.

Very sad to learn of his passing. I went to junior and senior high school with him and he was a kind and sweet boy, and I imagine he grew up to be that kind of man. My condolences to the whole family.

Roni, Jason and all the family - I just attended the Greenwich Reunion on Saturday and Suzi Smith mentioned this to me. I was surprised and saddened for your family. Thinking of you all with love. We have memories going way back.

Ron, we never had that drink! You would have had no way of knowing, but seeing you in a navy blue business suit for so many meetings and so many years, always created in me the feeling that I was in an excellent, professional environment, and that dialogue coming from your direction would be spare, focused and solid. You had my respect, and the respect of everyone around you. Someone else said it best:"If anyone could have assumed the mantle of John Herr, it was Ron." You were a reference point for anyone wanting to see a total professional, and an elegant colleage, in action. You take with you the respect and affection of all who knew you, and we are mourning the loss of your presence here. You will be greatly, and I dare say, forever missed. You taught a lot by example, and we will be something 'less' without you, Ron. You've left us much too soon, but, in your spare way, with so little information and no notice at all, perhaps in the way you would have intended. I will miss what you brought to your professional life here and to your colleagues. I count myself extremely lucky to have known you, and will remember you whenever I think of NCC, today, tomorrow and in the future. God see you safely on......Mary Frances Carnmell

My heart goes out to the family of Ron-O (that is what I called him). Ron and I spent 10 years together as office mates in NCC's Business Department; he was always so kind to Letitia and I.

Ron-O, I'm sorry we didn't get to have that lunch in November. We will have to save it until I meet you in heaven.
