Sara Randal Obituary

Sara Jane "Sally" Randal
1941 - 2024
Died at home on February 20, 2024 after a 10-year fight with cancer. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada in 1941, she was the daughter of the late Frederick D. and Edna L. Denton.
Sally obtained both graduate and undergraduate degrees at the University of Toronto, and for three years was a member of the Chemistry Department's faculty there. In 1968 Sally moved to the US with her first husband, Dr. Donald Lavery to pursue his postdoctoral fellowship. They were expecting to return to Canada when the three-year fellowship ended, but instead chose to move to Connecticut, leave academia for the corporate world, and settle in the Harbor View community in Norwalk. Sally remained in Harbor View for 52 years (1972-2024).
In 1974 she helped found a small management consulting firm based in New York City and focused on clients in the chemical and mining industries. Over the next 25 years, she successively served as a partner in three firms, growing and ultimately selling or merging each firm into something larger. In 1986 she met and then married the late Frederick F. Randall, commencing 26 happy years together during which they continued to reside in Harbor View, pursued careers, traveled extensively, built a winter home in Anguilla, BWI, and in 2008, celebrated the birth of a much wished-for grandchild, Anabel Grace Baxter.
In addition to Anabel, survivors include: brother and best friend Robert Denton, beloved stepchildren Robert Randall, MacNair Randall, Anne Randall Baxter, beloved nieces and nephews Lee-Anne McCallum, Leslie McCallum, David McCallum, Marjorie Denton, Andrew Denton, Danielle Denton-Sharma, and Ashley Denton and eleven great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her wit, affection, and continual interest in their lives.
In addition to her husband Fred, Sally was predeceased by her sister Jo-Anne L. McCallum (nee Denton) and brother Douglas R. Denton.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
