Stanley Joseph Cain

Cain, Stanley Joseph Age 79, went home to be with his Lord Monday March 14, 2016 following an extended illness. Born and raised in Charlotte Michigan, the son of William and Bernice Cain. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Helen (Blue) Cain, his sons, Steven (Margaret), Bruce (Terri), and Douglas (Ellis) along with his sister Edna (Bernhard) and 7 grandchildren. Stan graduated from Spring Arbor Junior College, Greenville and Eastern Michigan University. He began teaching in 1960 at Muskegon, then spent two years at Columbia Central in Brooklyn Michigan before moving to Spring Arbor and beginning his career at Western High School in Parma Michigan. As a teacher, Stan leaves a legacy in the lives of his students through his enthusiasm for understanding the way the world works from Astronomy to Physics, from Chemistry to Photography and even Model Rocketry, all of which he taught during his career. As a husband and father, he shared his passion for camping, hiking, & photography though summer family camping trips to Glacier, Yellowstone, and many other national parks in the western US and Canada. As a friend and neighbor he was a long time member and volunteer at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, where he coupled his faith with his expertise in building, operating, and improving the sound system in the sanctuary. Upon retiring in 1989, he and Helen traveled the country, eventually settling in Haines City Florida where they remained until 2009 when they relocated to Traverse City to be closer to family. A memorial service is scheduled at 10AM Thursday March 17 at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church.
