Timothy Burke Obituary

Formerly of Norwalk Timothy R. Burke, of New Fairfield, passed away Friday, February, 12, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. Tim was the son of Elmer and Rose (Lametta) Burke. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Eileen and daughters Ashley and Kimberly, parents Elmer and Rose of Brookfield, brother Dave Burke (Denise), mother and father in law Lloyd and Linda Decker, sister in law Diane Giardina (Dan), sister in law Catherine Swanhart (Kenny), brother in law Lloyd Decker (Carolyn). He also leaves behind nieces Lindsay Accosta (Robert), Erin Araujo (Filipe), Sara Burke (Greg Grant), Cori and Colleen Swanhart, Dana Giardina, Tegan Decker and Emory Accosta. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much and will miss him dearly. He was pre-deceased by his infant brother. Tim was born in Norwalk, then moved to Virginia in 1960. The family moved to Brookfield, in 1968. He served in the First Aviation Brigade of the Army during the Vietnam War. Tim was employed at Pitney Bowes for over 40 years and leaves behind coworkers who turned into lifelong friends. Tim loved to collect Hess firetrucks and firefighter collectables. His true love was his family and spending time with them. He will be forever missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Friends will be received at Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, February, 16th from 5-8 p.m. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate or the American Cancer Society, 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk, CT 06854.
