Andree Morgan Obituary

Andree Morgan, 94, of Grand Island, Neb., formerly of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Country House Residence, surrounded by her family.

Born July 14, 1931, in Burlington, Iowa, to Harold and Grace (Odle) McLean. Andree was next to the youngest of five children. She was raised and educated in Wapello, Iowa, graduating from Wapello High School in 1949. Following a childhood dream, she pursued a nursing degree from Mercy Hospital in Burlington, Iowa. She briefly paused her studies to care for her ailing mother before graduating in 1952.

Andree met the love of her life, Jack Morgan, following his service in the Korean War. They were married on January 4, 1953, in Wapello and shared 64 wonderful years together until Jack's passing in 2017. Jack and Andree made their home in the Hiawatha and Cedar Rapids area, where they raised their two children, daughter, Kim and son, Kyle. Andree dedicated her life to nursing, first at St. Luke's Hospital and then Dr. John Keith in Marion. After taking time to raise her family, she returned to work at St. Luke's Hospital, Crestview and Willow Gardens Care Centers before concluding her career as an industrial nurse at Collins Rockwell, retiring in 1987.

A longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Andree was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes basketball fan, enjoyed crocheting and memorable yearly family fishing trips to Northern Wisconsin. Andree cherished her family which inspired her passion for genealogy. She and Jack traveled extensively to research their family history, leaving behind a beautiful, preserved blessing for her family. After nearly 60 years in the Hiawatha and Cedar Rapids area, they moved to Grand Island, to be closer to family.

Andree was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by many and will always be loved by her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kim (Edward) Conroy of Grand Island, Neb. and Kyle Morgan of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Conroy of West Des Moines, Iowa, Katie (Michael) Hoesche of Joelton, Tenn., Colleen Morgan of Tucson, Ariz. and Robert Morgan (Sarah) of Tucson, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren, Abel, Owen, Declan, Emerie and Daisy. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Andree was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her granddaughter, Adrienne Morgan; her sister, Carol (James) Hervey; and three brothers, Neal (Lorna) McLean, Douglas (Joan) McLean and Harold Jr. (Norma) McLean.

The family would like to thank the staff of Country House Residence, AseraCare Hospice and Riverside Lodge for their loving and compassionate care given to Andree. A special thank you is also extended to Dr. Michael Donner at Nebraska Medicine for his exceptional care, kindness and support over the years.

Services will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
