Charles "Chuck" Richard Doolittle, 83, of Grand Island, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025. A private family burial will take place in Portis, Kan. at a later date.

Chuck was born on January 9, 1942, in Beloit, Kan. to Charles Clay Doolittle and Celia (Getty) Doolittle Akerly. Chuck was raised and received his education in Downs, Kan. After graduating, he attended a trade school in Dever where he studied electronics. In 1961 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for the next 22 years, including Vietnam. During his time in Sasebo, Japan, Chuck met the love of his life, Sekiko Hoshino. They were married on February 20, 1967. To this union two children were born.

Chuck was very proud to have served for the United State Navy. He loved spending time outdoors, taking nature photographs, fishing, hunting, genealogy research and time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sekiko; son, Ricky (Sandra) Doolittle; daughter, Miki (Tim) O'Neill; grandchildren, Jessica and Carlee O'Neill; great grandson, Joseph "J" O'Neill and many other wonderful family and friends.
