Donald Francis Carlin, the son of Peter Francis and Kathleen (Glesinger) Carlin, was born on June 26, 1963, at Albion. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. Don attended school at Spalding Academy and graduated with the Class of 1981. He then attended college at CCC-Hastings campus and received his HVAC, Heating and Air Certification.
Don lived in Grand Island, where he worked for Johnson Controls and then Conditioned Air Mechanical.
On April 13, 2002, Don was united in marriage to Melodie Jo Ceder at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. He was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Grand Island. He was also a member of the Steamfitters & Plumbers Local 464 union.
Don loved spending time with his family, and especially his wife and his son, Tyler. He loved animals and especially and his golden retriever, Conner. He enjoyed hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He was an outdoorsman and was happy doing anything outside. Don was quite the MacGyver as he was very handy and could fix about anything. Don was a quiet man but was always willing to give a helping hand, and always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Melodie, and son, Tyler, of Grand Island; mother, Kathleen "Kitty" Carlin, of Spalding; seven siblings, Patrick and Arlene (Bernt) Carlin of Lincoln, William and Kathy (Hinkle) Carlin of Hastings, Mary and Randy Dobbins of Burwell, Ed and Wendy (Paulman) Carlin of Spalding, Joe Carlin and his friend Laura Hardesty of Raymond, Diane Carlin of Petersburg, and Bob Carlin of Spalding; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter; and grandparents, Henry and Vera Carlin; William and Kathleen Glesinger.
