Ellen Wedemeyer Obituary



RAVENNA -- Ellen Wedemeyer, 85, of Ravenna died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Seneca Sunrise in Ravenna.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Micah Gaunt will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wedemeyer was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Merrick County to August and Christina (Helzer) Bader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman, on Oct. 7, 2007.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sharol Wedemeyer of Ravenna, and a daughter and son-in-law, Brad and Janelle Oberg of Houston.

Other survivors include five grandchildren, Chris and husband, Ryan Jindra, of Crete, James and wife, Amanda Wedemeyer, of Ravenna, Tim Oberg of Boulder, Colo., Dana Oberg of Malvern, Pa., and Derek Wedemeyer of Ravenna, and four great-grandchildren.

She was educated at Worms and graduated from Zion Lutheran School at Worms. She worked at H&H Shoe Store in Grand Island.

She married Lyman Wedemeyer on Aug. 25, 1946, in Worms. They made their home on the family farm south of Ravenna.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Dorcas Society, Majors Extension Club, Neighborhood Club, Kearney Quilters Club and the Kearney China Painters.

She loved quilting, crocheting and china painting.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold, and one grandson, Nicklas.
