Erma Wagner Obituary
Erma F. Wagner, 88, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Francis T. Curran will officiate. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Curran Funeral Chapel, with a Catholic Daughters rosary and Scripture vigil service at 7. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7.
Mrs. Wagner was born June 10, 1920, at Grand Island to Carl and Minnie (Skibinski) Baumann.
Survivors of her immediate family include her husband, Robert L. Wagner; a daughter, Michalynn Wagner of Grand Island; a brother, Albert C. Baumann of Chula Vista, Calif.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Mel Robinson of Lakeside, Calif.
Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Evan Westpfahl, Dawn Westpfahl, Cassie Westpfahl, Brittany and Alicia Statler, Kylie and Collin Sorensen; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Erma grew up and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from St. Mary's in 1938. She married Robert Lee Wagner in Grand Island on April 30, 1939. They lived in Grand Island and she was employed as a secretary to C.W. Berdick, Grand Island's city water & light manager. She later worked for G. I. Furnace & Supply Co., retiring Dec. 29, 1979, after 30 years of service. After retirement, she was employed at the Hall County Jail and was self-taught in trading futures, tracking positions for Merrill Lynch on a part-time basis for five years. Erma was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Ave Maria 1263. She was a Financial Secretary, Vice Regent and 2 terms Past Regent.
She enjoyed hunting, motorcycling, camping and spending time at their cabin at Johnson Lake.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Ave Maria 1263.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Rose Baumann.

Erma was such a wonderful person! God blessed us w/ such a beautiful (adopted) Great-Grandmother. Her love and kindness will never be forgotten. We'll miss her dearly!

We read with sympathy of Erma's passing. Our memories with her and her family date back to 4th of July, 1971 when the whole lake area was stirred with the labor and birthof our daughter, Tami. Lots of wonderful memories of those years. Thanks, for being friends for all these years. Ron and Ardis
