Erma A. Wissing

Hastings resident Erma A. Wissing, 90, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Jeremy Hazuka. Private family burial will be held at a later date at Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. with family present 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church or St. Michael's Pre-School. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home's website. Erma was born August 23, 1933, in Grand Island, NE to Fred and Freida (Stueven) Kruse. She graduated from Grand Island High School. Erma married Leo G. Wissing on August 25, 1953; he preceded her in death on June 17, 2017.
Erma was a homemaker and Sales Associate for Woolworths, JCPennys, and Hergergers. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and St. Michael's Altar Society.
Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids and watching her family grow.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo G. Wissing; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Ivy Wissing; daughter-in-law, Susan Wissing; brother, John Kruse; sister, Lucille Sinner; and other extended family.
She is survived by children and spouses: Jerry Wissing and Ellen Shively of Omaha, NE, Ron and Beth Wissing of Hastings, NE; Tom and Sue Wissing of Hastings, NE; Jeff and Patti Wissing of Hastings, NE; Randy and Deb Wissing of Grand Island, NE; Russ and Tammy Wissing of Lincoln, NE; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters: Phyllis Long of Grand Island, NE and Vera Kelly of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Imogene Kruse of St. Paul, NE; Mary Nielsen of St. Libory, NE; nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.
