So sorry to learn of Gene´s death. He is part of many Boelus memories; town team baseball, riding on his bus to school and activities. He was always cheerful and had a kind word.

Joyce & family, s so sorry to hear of Gene's passing, he was a wonderful man always friendly & such a beatiful voice, don't know how many times he sang at one our family events, but always did an excellent job. I know he's in the Angels Choir now. I feel so bad we didn't hear of his passing until today, or we would have been there. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.

I knew Gene my entire life. He was so unique and special in so many ways. Long before he became a school bus driver he was already transporting us around at 16 in his car to various school and church functions. He was always there for everyone. He had the kindest and caring heart.
His beautiful voice gave so much comfort in times of loss and grief. He spread the joy at happy times too!
He and his sister LaVera Mae were always there for the community.
My sincere condolences to his entire family.

There's so many wonderful things to say about Gene, so I will focus on what he meant for me and my siblings. Gene was our bus driver for many years. He always had a smile and a good morning for each of us. His laugh was contagious when we shared stories and jokes with each other. All of our hearts hurt for Joyce and the families. May you know Gene is loved and will be missed by many. Thank you Gene!!

Joyce: Fran and I are sending you and your family heartfelt condolences and prayers of sympathy for your loss and Gene’s journey to eternity where he will sing with all the other angels. He truly lived life to the fullest. I remember Gene way back to the early ‘60’s when I was young and had the pharmacy in Cairo. Our children have fond and loving memories of him as their school bus driver and his involvement in the Centura community. He is in a sense a legend in our area. We will miss him, his smile and friendly aura. We are out of state and regret we will miss the visitation and funeral. God’s blessings be with now and always. Fran and Dave Schaffer

Gene and I made a good team when it came to playing/singing for funerals. I appreciated his confidence in singing because it made my job easier. Gene and Ben were good friends and I will miss seeing him around. His family is in my prayers!
