GRAND ISLAND - Kay Elaine Job, 81, of Grand Island, died peacefully at Tiffany Square Retirement Home on February 28, 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 7th, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Father Vijumon Choorackal will be the celebrant. Cremation will take place following the service with burial of ashes in the Grand Island Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.giallfaiths.com.
Kay was born June 29, 1942, to Steven T. Durnan and Helen (Rice) and raised by he and Mildred (Friend) Durnan in Sunnyside, WA. Kay graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1960 and joined The Woman's Army Corp September of 1960 serving as a dental assistant. She was honorably discharged in September 1963. Kay met Edward while taking evening classes at Kansas State and they were married in Balta, North Dakota on June 9, 1964. She graduated from Grand Island Beauty School in 1971.
She worked at McDonalds from September 1978 to December 2004, and for the Grand Island Public Schools nutrition services from 2005 to 2014. On October 1, 2014, she began Kidz Care Daycare, which she ran until June 1, 2017.
Her hobbies were singing, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and grand kids and was an avid Nebraska sports enthusiast.
Kay is survived by her husband, Edward; daughter, Ann (David) Kalvelage of Grand Island; sons, David Job of Georgia, Dane (Jae) Job of Lincoln, Nebraska and Erin (Heather) Job of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin "KC" Kalvelage, Robert Job, Hope Job, Joshua (Alice) Job, Macy Job, Megan Job, Isaac Job, Oliver Job and Patrick Job; great-grandchildren, Thomas Jay Job, Tinley Joy Job, Taylee Jones Job and Hannah Job.
She is also survived by her sisters, Audrey McEwen of Alaska, Ruth (Fred) Jaguish of Otis Orchard, Washington, Peggy (Russell) Gilmore of East Wenatchee, Washington; brothers, Thomas (Iona) Durnan of Yakima, Washington and Jerry (Cherie) Finley; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Mary Jane) Job and Gerald (Helen) Job; many nieces and nephews; and her bonus children, Lorraine, Chad and Ashley Anderson.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, William and Elizabeth Job; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Isidore and Carole Jobe; and beloved granddaughter, Kathryn Kalvelage.

My heart goes out to all of you, she will be remembered by all who knew her and that she touched in some way through her life. She was a special person and loved by many. So glad she is at peace and no pain and with God and friends and family now. I loved her dearly and will miss our chats.
