Laveda Mae Rathman
August 9, 1939 - June 11, 2025
Laveda Mae Rathman, age 85, of Doniphan, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Tiffany Square Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 17th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Doniphan, with Father David Oldham celebrant. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m., at All Faiths Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann's Catholic Church or the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation for the Don and Laveda Rathman Scholarship. Condolences can be left at

Laveda was born on August 9, 1939, in Doniphan, to Lawrence and Grace (Schultz) Kroeger. She grew up and attended school in Doniphan, graduating Valedictorian of her class.
On November 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to Don Rathman. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary together before Donald's passing on November 22, 2020. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and being able to attend her children's activities.
Laveda was passionate about the Hall County Extension Service and was instrumental in helping with completing the move and acquiring a space at Central Community College. She served several terms on the Hall County Extension Board as a council chairperson and served on the state board. She was also a long-time member of the Gabby Group Extension Club and a member of TOPS group serving as treasurer for many years. Laveda was a devoted fan of the Doniphan school sports program even after her children had graduated, as well as being a very avid fan to Husker volleyball and football. She enjoyed sharing her sour dough friendship cakes with people and always had a starter ready to go. She was an avid Precious Moments collector.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Darla Rathman Treacy of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Michael Rathman, Karli Rathman, Grace Rathman, Darian (Jake) Spindler, Kaleb Treacy and Zach (Charlie) Treacy; great grandchildren, Gatlin and Addison Treacy, Henry and David Rathman and Audrey Spindler; brother, Eldon (Peg) Kroeger of Doniphan; brother in-law, Tom Rathman of Grand Island and Jim (Becky) Rathman of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.
Laveda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Rathman; son, David Rathman and sister in-law, Yolanda Rathman.
