Loyola M. "Lou" Rosno, 88, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died October 7, 2025, at The Heritage at Sagewood in Grand Island.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Vijumon Choorackal will celebrate the funeral mass. Interment will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Catholic Daughters of America Court Queen of Peace No. 2227, or the Central Catholic Development Foundation for Tuition Assistance. Loyola was born May 3, 1937, in Cumming County, Nebraska, to Joseph and Agnes (Brehmer) Nacke. She went to rural schools until the eighth grade. She started working as a helper in homes for different families as they needed care.
She moved to Grand Island in June of 1956 and was married to Richard Rosno on November 3, 1956, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hooper, Nebraska.
Lou is survived by her husband, Richard of Grand Island, Neb.; seven children, Stephen (Tricia) Rosno of Leewood, Kan., Denise (Bill) Ourada of Elm Creek, Neb., David (Sheila) Rosno of Hastings, Neb., Mary (Kevin) Grode of Omaha, Neb., James (Patty) Rosno of West St. Paul, Minn., Philip (Eve) Rosno of Hastings, Neb., and Ricky Rosno of Phoenix, Ariz.; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren (including two on the way); and two sisters, Sally (Bob) Price, and Connie (Keith) Weinzetl of The Colony, Texas.
Lou was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. She was a 68-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the America's including Court Queen of Peace No. 2227 as a charter member and Court Ave Maria No. 1263. Lou served in many capacities including Court Regent for several terms and Jr. CDA Leader. She attended State and National Conventions when she could.
Lou enjoyed knitting, especially prayer shawls, bowling, playing pinochle and gardening. She was known for her pies at many bake sales. Lou also made hundreds of beaded rosaries to send to missions and give to family and friends. She was a very active 4-H leader in Merrick County as all seven of her children were involved and took many projects to the County Fair.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Rosno; sisters, Trilvian Cerny and Therese Grimm; brothers, Daniel Nacke and Hubert Nacke; brother-in-law, Joe Cerny; and sisters-in-law, Eileen Nacke and Theresa Drozd.
