Margene Stueven, 81, of Springfield, passed away February 18, 2025 at the Ash Grove Care Center after a long battle with dementia. She was born June 19, 1943 in Guide Rock, NE to Wilbert "Bill" Giger and Lois (Reeve) Giger.

She was a member of Schweitzer Church and was also active in Christian Women in Grand Island, NE, St. Petersburg, FL and Springfield, MO. Margene was a church organist for 50 years and played for hundreds of weddings and funerals. She played for several Little Theatre productions in Grand Island and directed handbell choirs in churches where she was organist.

Margene and her husband Bob were married June 4, 1961 in Guide Rock, NE. They loved traveling around the country to dance at polka festivals. Her coworkers always got a decorated birthday cake and she baked hundreds of dozens of Christmas cookies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Mille Giger; brother, Jim Giger; sister-in-law, Annette Smith; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Whitaker and mother and father-in-law, Carl and Edna Stueven.

Margene is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Stueven; sons Duane of Springfield, Criag (Lorie) of Norman, OK and David (Clark) of Independence, MO; daughter, Kimberly Wonder of Omaha, NE; grandsons Dustin Stueven (Machella) of Council Bluffs, IA, Logan Stueven of Norman, OK and Mathu Wonder of Council Bluffs, IA and great granddaughter, Emmalia Stueven of Council Bluffs, IA.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Service following at 2:00 PM, on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Schweitzer Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation.
