Micheal Morledge Obituary

Micheal "Mike" Jason Morledge

August 6, 1949 - March 23, 2024

GRAND ISLAND -

Micheal "Mike" Jason Morledge, age 74, of Grand Island, passed away March 23, 2024 at St. Francis Skilled Care surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of life will be held at Third City Christian Church on Wednesday, March 27th. A service and time of sharing will begin at 10:30 AM. Dan Naranjo and Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Visitation will be private family.

Micheal was born August 6, 1949 in Grand Island to John and Lillian Morledge. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Stolley Park Elementary School, Walnut Middle School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1968. He was united in marriage to Ellen Olsen on December 27, 1973. They made Grand Island their home, raising two children Jason and Ashley. Micheal was the owner and Chairman of the Board of Credit Management Services, Inc. Mike's leadership was the cornerstone of Credit Management Services, laying a foundation for stability, longevity, success and unparalleled growth. His commitment to innovation and corporate responsibility shaped a legacy that will be carried forward by his children Jason and Ashley Morledge. Prior to his years with Credit Management, he was President and owner of the Collection Bureau of Grand Island, Inc., and Morledge and Associates and Bank Service Company, Inc.

Mike sat on various boards over his career. He sat on the boards of St. Francis Medical Center Foundation, Heartland United Way, G.I. Chamber of Commerce, State of NE Collection Agency Licensing Board, Grand Island Independent Advisory Board, Central NE Regional Airport, Grand Island Education Foundation. His memberships included Riverside Golf Club, the Saddle Club, the Platte Duetsch, and as an Honorary member of the Blue Knights.

Micheal will be remembered by many for his generosity and willingness to help many in need. He had the heart of a philanthropist and accomplished many good deeds anonymously outside the traditional channels. He was recognized for his generosity in 2012 as The Grand Island Independent's Man of the Year.

Mike enjoyed traveling, automobiles, motorcycles, music, and spending time with family and friends. Many will remember Mike's sense of style! He had quite a collection of Tommy Bahama shirts, artful eyewear and a watch to coordinate his look, not to mention his crazy and colorful sock collection. Micheal's favorite pastime was to wine and dine! He was known for his Patio Parties and Christmas Parties that many enjoyed over the years. Spending time in both Nebraska and his second home in Arizona offered Mike opportunities to share the things he loved in life with his family and friends. His family is so thankful for the priceless friendships Mike enjoyed throughout his lifetime. His Credit Management work family always held a special place in his heart. Mike knew how to live life to the fullest with no regrets.

Micheal is survived by children, Jason and (Lisa) Morledge, Ashley Morledge and Jake Matzner; grandchildren, Kyle, Kendal and Lauren Morledge, Avery and Jonathan Rogers all of Grand Island; sister, Patricia Eihusen, Gregg (Joyce) Schwarz of Leesburg, VA and Jeff (Molly) Schwarz of Scottsdale, AZ. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike and his family want to thank the following for the loving care Mike received from the staff at St. Francis Skilled Care, Nebraska Cancer Specialists, Nebraska Medicine, Nebraska Heart Institute and Live Well Physical Therapy.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Rheita Schmer. His dear friends Dave Bush, Rod Shada and Mike Murphy.

In closing, in true Micheal spirit whenever the conversation turned to the subject of funerals; Mike always said he wanted two sections of guests; The Weepers on one side and the Wailers on the other!

Micheal you will be missed!

I´m so sorry for your loss. I worked for credit management for a long time an both my daughters Mallory an Miranda also worked there. He was a nice person an one day out of the blue he asked if I wanted to drive his Porsche. It was awesome.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Micheal and privileged to have known him. Mike had an incredible life and touched so many. I´ve known Mike since the 1960´s. He was the only one ever to call me Harmonica. At first it irritated me but he always said it with such a big smile it grew on me. Rest in peace my friend.

Rest in peace Michael. We first met in kindergarten, when we moved in behind you in 1955. We spent our grade school years at Stolley park school and then on to Walnut jr high. You and I used to carry our neighbor John Harrington down the stairs at Walnut jr high. We had some great times growing up in the Holcomb addition in the stolley park area. I remember your mother baking us a mulberry pie, from the mulberrys we picked at Stolley park when we were kids! Great memories! Rest in pease!
