FUNERAL HOME
Monty Mamot Obituary
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Ray Kosmicki, Sidney Bruggeman and Michael McDermott will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7:45 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mamot was born on May 10, 1964, at St. Paul to Larry and Nancy (Uleman) Mamot.
He married Jamie Helzer on April 28, 1990, at St. Paul.
Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters, Shelbea Mamot and Sarah Mamot, both of St. Paul; two sons, Skyler Mamot and Payton Mamot, both of St. Paul; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Ned Meier of Grand Island; his grandmother, Rosella Mamot of Grand Island; one brother and sister-in-law, Daron and Tammy Mamot of St. Libory; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susanne and Tony Guyette of St. Libory and Dayla and Jon Sack of Grand Island.
Monty grew up on the family farm southwest of St. Libory, attended District 118 School and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1982. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year and then Kansas State University for two years.
He returned to St. Libory, where he worked at the family business, Mamot Feedlots.
He and Jamie lived near St. Libory until moving to St. Paul in 2000.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association, and was a former Little League baseball coach.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Mamot, and his grandparents, Zenon Mamot and Forrest and Lavina Uleman.

I've spent days thinking about all the great times I spent with Monty.
I have moved away and didn't stay in touch with him like I wish I would have.
We all know he was the best son, brother, father and friend anyone has ever had and I was lucky to have him as a friend.

I have written once already but I am at a loss for words. Monty was a great guy and I'm confused myself as are all of the family and friends. Sarah and Shelbea- you both are very amazing people and are very caring to all of those around you. Keep your heads up. Skyler- you a great guy, one day you will find that one girl and you two will be happy. Never give up. Fight for your dreams even if they seem to big. I'm always here to talk! I know how this feels. So saddened to here of Monty's passing as he was a wonderful person. Lots of good memories run thru my head as I think about all the years I've known him. I have tried for three days to figure out what to write and say here. I am extremely saddened for all of you for I do understand some of the hurt and pain you are going through.
No one's father or brother or son should have to fight the battles Monty had to fight.
The Monty that I knew was a kind, gentle, and loving person. That is who I will remember and I strongly encourage all of you to do the same.
The dark clouds that are swirling in your lives right now will clear and there will be better days ahead.
Please know that I am here if you need a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen.
