Nina Cole Obituary
November 29, 1918 - May 29, 2025
Nina L. Cole, 106, of Grand Island, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
To honor Nina's wishes, there will be no public services. Family graveside services will be at a later date in the Ansley Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Nina was born November 29, 1918, in Antioch, Neb., the daughter of Lemuel and Margaret (Dolen) Clay. Her family moved to Ansley in 1932, where she graduated from Ansley High School, class of 1936. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, beginning in 1954 summer sessions, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1965. She taught for nine years in country schools near Broken Bow, and for 27 years at North Park Elementary in Broken Bow. She retired in 1982 and moved to Grand Island in 1986.
Nina enjoyed playing bridge, loved flowers, gardening and her travels. Most of all, she loved family time and being with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Charles (Kathy) Cole of Omaha; daughter, Jeanne Mattson of Grand Island; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Keith Clay.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mildred Clay Fair, Marguerite Clay Gustin, Jim Clay, Dora Clay Nansel, Helen Clay Dye, Charley Clay, Bill Clay and John Clay; grandsons, John Mattson and Tim Cole; and son-in-law, Jack Mattson.

What a special life! Mrs. Cole was my 4th grade teacher. I remember her being very kind to her students!
