On June 1, 2022 the world lost one of its kindest, sweetest angels. Pamela S. Swanson, 63, of Grand Island, NE died unexpectedly at Grand Island Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family and dear friends.
Pam was born February 14, 1959, in Grand Island, NE. She was the daughter of Forrest J. and Ohleen L. (Hoppes) Swanson. Pam grew up in Grand Island receiving her education at Blessed Sacrament Grade School and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1977. She continued her education at UNK where she studied Pre-Pharmacy completing her doctorate degree at UNMC College of Pharmacy in 1983. She worked at numerous pharmacies including Skagway, Shopko, Wanek's, Walgreens, and CVS. She became a pharmacist to help people. She always went above and beyond to ensure everyone's needs were met, and met with a smile.
Pam met any challenge with a positive attitude. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her experienced her kindness, her laugh and sense of fun. She preceded every story with, "You'll Laugh," and we always did!
She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Nebraska Pharmacy Association, Saddle Club and was the founding member of the STD Club (Sook's Thursday Dinner Club). Pam loved being a mother. And, she loved dogs, shopping, quilting, shopping, cross stitching, sewing, shopping, travel, Garth Brooks, and a good gin and tonic!
Pam is survived by her daughter, Olivia K. Swanson of Grand Island, NE. Sister, Connie Swanson of Grand Island, NE. Nieces and nephews, Mark A. Kersten, Anthony (Danie) Kersten, and Stephanie (Roy) Rivera, and her beloved six dogs. Pam is preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Ohleen Swanson and a brother Danny Swanson.
