Phyllis E. Vanosdall
November 4, 1930 - June 30, 2024
Phyllis E. Vanosdall, 93, formerly of Greeley passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024; at CHI St. Francis Health System in Grand Island, Nebraska.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024; at the Scotia United Methodist Church. Reverend Arsene Lumami will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials are suggested to Scotia Rescue Unit. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Phyllis Elaine was born November 4, 1930, in the Parnell Precinct of Greeley County, Nebraska to William "Frank" and Fairy E. (Dwinell) Byerly. She was raised on farms in the Horace Community of Greeley County; received her education at Horace School District #28; and graduated from Scotia High School in 1948.
On December 5, 1948, following another one of those 1948-49 blizzards Phyllis was united in marriage to Lloyd G. Vanosdall at the Scotia Methodist Episcopal Church. Lloyd and Phyllis were blessed with two children, Ronald Alan and Lois Elaine. The couple spent their entire married life in Greeley County where they farmed and raised their family.
Lloyd passed away on November 29, 2011; Phyllis enjoyed living on the farm until July of 2020.
She was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church; where she was involved in several Bible study groups and also belonged to the Buzzen Dozen Extension Club. Phyllis and Lloyd enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting and fishing. Their travels took them to Egypt, Holland, Mexico, Hawaii, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Phyllis loved nature and the outdoors; she raised a large garden and chickens; and also helped with the family chores. She also was an excellent seamstress; making garments and quilts for her family.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Galen Hansen of Scotia; daughter-in-law, Sharlene (Johnson) Vanosdall Psota of Ord; grandchildren, Dawn and Lincoln Roth, Alan and Melanie Vanosdall, Tisha and Nicholas Krajicek, Kurt and Sarah Hansen, and Becky Hansen; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Betty Byerly of Scotia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; a son, Ronald Vanosdall; a daughter, Lois Hansen; grandson, Troy Hansen; three brothers, Kenneth, Virgil and Merlin Byerly; and infant sister, Merna Louise Byerly.
