Richard D. Samuelson
HASTINGS - Former Trumbull resident Richard D. "Dick" Samuelson, 75, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.
Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Rev. Benjamin Hanne officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull. Visitation will be 12:00-7:00 PM with the family present 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church, Trumbull Community Center, or Hastings College Scholarship Fund. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home's website. To view the service, go to Dick's obituary and click the play button shown towards the bottom of the page. Dick was born February 11, 1948 in Hastings, NE to Ivor W. and Evelyn M. "Abby" (Hawthorne) Samuelson. He graduated from Trumbull High School in 1966 and received his Bachelor's Degree in business from Hastings College in 1970. Dick married Kathleen "Kathy" Kistner on June 1, 1969 at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings.
Dick was a former owner and manager of Samuelson Equipment Company. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, past Board of Directors member for INEDA (Iowa Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association), former board member of Heritage Bank formerly City of National Bank for many years, and numerous other organizations, clubs, and church groups.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Kathryn Marsh; sister, Bonnie (Samuelson) Reed; and brother, Bob Samuelson.
Survivors: Wife Kathleen "Kathy" Samuelson – Hastings, NE; Sons & Spouse Kirk Samuelson – Highland Ranch, CO and Ryan & Julie Samuelson – Hastings, NE; Grandchildren Madeline Samuelson, Morgan Samuelson, Bailey Samuelson, Breck Samuelson, Irelyn Samuelson, Quinn Samuelson; Sister Janis (Samuelson) Weiser – Naples, FL; Brother & Spouse Joel & Karen Samuelson – Trumbull, NE; Sister-in-law Marlene Samuelson – Hastings, NE; Brothers-in-law & Spouses Joe & Vicki Kistner – Trumbull, NE and Ralph & Lorene Parke-Polston – Tucson, AZ; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, other extended family, and many friends

Dick and Kathy were our best friends since we met at Hastings College in the 60's. In later years we traveled a lot with them and always had a great time. My wife Terri died over 2 years ago and I know how hard this. Love ya Kathy
