Robert Placzek Obituary
February 7, 1948 - January 9, 2025
Robert D. Placzek, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 9, 2025. Bob graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1966, served in the U.S. Army, and graduated from the University of Nebraska. He began a 42 year banking career at The Overland National Bank of Grand Island, retiring in 2015 from the Bank of Tucson. Bob was proud of his Nebraska roots, was an avid bird hunter in his younger years, enjoyed playing golf and bridge in retirement. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his son, Christopher (Sharon), grandsons, Matthew and Joshua, his sister, Susan (Kent) Heaton, brother, John (Steph) Placzek, and a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Zigmund and Margaret Placzek of Grand Island, and brother, Tim Placzek. Bob was interred with military honors at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ.

Ziggy was one of my best childhood friends in Grand Island from grade school thru high school. The memories of the things we did could be made into a movie. May not be PG rated however.
I value knowing Bob Placzek and the experiences we had. He was an honorable person.
