Ron was born on July 28, 1944 in Kearney, NE to Harold and Maxine (Kirschner) Vogt. He grew up on the farm near Miller, NE prior to moving to Ravenna with his family. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheryl Huryta, on November 9, 1963 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna, NE. They were blessed to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family this past year.

Ron worked various mechanic and maintenance jobs during his lifetime. His final 10 years before retiring was with the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. He also owned and operated the Grand Theater and the Laundromat in Ravenna. Ron served as a Ravenna volunteer fireman for 30 years. He was a jack of all trades and there was not much of anything he could not fix. He enjoyed drag racing, demolition derbies, riding his motorcycles, and fishing. He enjoyed polka music and attended many polka dances with his wife Cheryl. He always had a smile and a hello for anyone he met, and enjoyed making others laugh. He taught his children the value of hard work, loyalty, and love. Ron treasured being a grandpa. He loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended many of their activities and was proud of their accomplishments.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl Vogt of Ravenna; children, Kevin (Kathy) Vogt of Boelus, NE, Pamela (Kendell) Bruce of Kearney, NE, Kila (Tim) Turek of Wood River, NE, Troy (Dawn) Vogt of Rockville, NE, and Jason (Hannah) Vogt of Nashville, TN; 20 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; siblings, Karen Vogt of Ravenna, NE, Bonnie Konert of Columbus, NE, Connie (Mel) Corbin of Ravenna, NE and Larry Vogt of Ravenna, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sherry Graczyk, brother, Gerald Vogt, his in-laws Edward and Alexandria Huryta, brothers-in-law Jerry Konert, Marvin Huryta, Lynn Huryta, and Gordon Huryta.
