Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home chapel in Lexington.
Mrs. Warner was born March 9, 1923, in Cairo to O. Jay and Hazel Marie (Manners) Waddington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, in 1980 and by a daughter, Alice Phillips, in 2003.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Michael (Linda) Warner of Lexington; a daughter, Patricia (Ned) Rakestrow of Grand Island; a son-in-law, David Phillips of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two sisters, Claire Levene and Arlene Graf, both of Grand Island; and two brothers, Keith Waddington of Moore, Okla., and C.R. Waddington of Omaha.
Other survivors include five grandchildren, Connie (Tim) Prather of Lubbock, Texas, Jeremy Phillips of New York City, Kristina (Scott) Shortle of Hyde Park, N.Y., Joseph (Rachelle) Warner of Minden, and Kelli (Ben) Sander of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Rowan and Ivy Shortle, Alexa and Elijah Warner and Hayley Sander; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ruby grew up in the Grand Island area and graduated from Grand Island High School with the class of 1941.
She was married to Loren C. "Bud" Warner on May 1, 1943, in Paso Robles, Calif., while Bud was in the service. The couple settled in Lexington in 1949. Ruby did clerical work for four different businesses during her working years. They were the ASCS Office, Home Federal Savings and Loan, the Credit Bureau and the Dawson County Clerk's office.
Ruby was active in and loved attending the Lexington Christian Church. She was involved in the Women's Circle and Council, she was a member of the Piecemakers Quilting group from church and she found time to make diaper bags for the women's pregnancy center in Norfolk. She was also a past member of Crime Stoppers, Neighborhood Watch and helped deliver Meals-on-Wheels to shut-ins.
When someone was ill or lost a loved one to death, Ruby was the first to show up with a meal and a kind word. She loved to sew and quilt, but being with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was her greatest joy.
Ruby was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bonnie Rust; two brothers-in-law, Roy Rust and Rex Rasmussen; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Waddington and Dorothy Rasmussen.
Memorials are suggested to Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, Lexington Christian Church or the donor's choice.
