Shirley (Linnemann) Buhrman

Shirley (Linnemann) Buhrman, 89, went to be with our Lord on Friday, December 27, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. She was born March 25, 1935, in Grand Island, Nebraska to Elmer and Helen Linnemann. She was an only child.

Shirley attended Grand Island Senior Highschool where she was active in clubs and a majorette for the high school band. She began working part time in the nursing field while she was still in high school. She and Ron Buhrman married January 7, 1956. Shirley continued working in the nursing field for many years until her children, Todd and Traci were born. When her mother and two aunts became elderly, she cared for them as well. Shirley and Ron lived in several locations in Kansas while Ron worked for The Treasury Department. They lived in Ozawkie, Kansas for 20 years, then settled in Topeka, Kansas in retirement.

Shirley was very active in church, especially church activities. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden, Kansas, and Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka, Kansas.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Todd; daughter, Traci (Roger) Brunton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St, Topeka KS 66614. A burial will occur at a later date.
