Warren Valentine Obituary

PLEASANTON - Warren D. Valentine, 75, of Pleasanton, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at the Ravenna Good Samaritan Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasanton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Evie Gulachi-Johnson will officiate.

Burial will be at the Pleasanton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Visitation will resume prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Valentine was born June 28, 1934, on a farm southeast of Pleasanton to John and Lydia (Gerdts) Valentine.

Survivors of his immediate family include his wife, Patricia of Pleasanton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Cheryl Valentine of Grand Island, and Jeff and Lesa Valentine of Brighton, Colo.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer Valentine, and Stephanie and Shawn Tobler of Ravenna.



Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Brooke and Jessica Valentine; Mersadi and Madison Valentine; McKenzie, Aaron, Parker Valentine; Dallas Meyers; Colton and Dalton Cervantes; and Taylor, Tannor and Tylor Tobler; and one great-grandson, Dominic Valentine.

Warren grew up on the farm and attended grade school in the Sunflower District 23 in Buffalo County and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1952.

He worked for Ritter gas station for a time and then entered into the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

On June 17, 1962, Warren was united in marriage to Patricia "Patti" Ann Lindner at the United Methodist Church in Pleasanton. They made their home in Pleasanton. Warren worked at Kizzier Chevrolet in Kearney for a time. In 1966, he started working as a custodian for Pleasanton Public Schools. He also worked at Good Samaritan Hospital and Wal-Mart before retiring in 2002.

Warren enjoyed playing Legion baseball and he followed his children and grandchildren's sports and activities until he fell ill in late 2002. He also enjoyed going for Sunday drives with his parents and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials are planned to the Pleasanton Fire Department.

We need to hold onto the happy memories to help us get through this time. Warren and I spent many hours together growing up on the farm.
I so wish I had driven to Ravenna in May to see him. It is not possible to make the trip to be with you at this time but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
