William Poffenbarger Obituary
PHILLIPS, William R. Poffenbarger, 75, of Phillips died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.
At Mr. Poffenbarger's request, there will be no services and cremation has taken place. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Poffenbarger was born on Aug. 29, 1933, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Arthur and Bertha (Thacker) Poffenbarger.
Survivors of the immediate family include his children and their spouses, Bill and Cindy Poffenbarger, Cindy Lynn Poffenbarger, Bobby Joe Poffenbarger, Doug and Lisa Poffenbarger and Kristy Wolff; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dick and Nancy Poffenbarger and Larry Poffenbarger; and two sisters, Bertie Cowlan and Artie Caputo.
Other survivors are 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
William was raised in Council Bluffs, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1958. Following the military, he worked as an engineer-draftsman. When he retired he went to work at Wal-Mart in the garden department.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

My grandpa I love you dearly and wish you were here with me in California... I miss you and will never forget the wonderful times that I spent with you. My mother and I were so heartbroken when uncle Mike called us. I wish I was there to tell you how much I loved you and how I wanted to see you more... I love you G-Unit and will never forget you !

It is sadding for anyone the lose of Dear ones. As a friend I am sad, as well for your family in this.
